reflection week 14

This is the most important, exclusive blog- as this blog will “reveal” some hidden treasures, which are safely kept within me. 14 weeks of learning….sure there are many unforgettable, precious moments. Therefore, here, I would like to share, some of my personal reaction towards this particular subject (PBEY3102).

Personally, I love the course so much, as it allows us to acquire new knowledge; in preparing teaching materials. Besides, it provides opportunities for us; to test the teaching materials created (whether it is truly, suitable to be implemented in the ESL classroom). Here, I have learnt a lot of things (which at the first moment I feel like it was actually the impossible things for me to acquired, as I’m not very good in this computer’s thingy….) But miraculously, my love for this course grew tender, each time I attended the class. Now, I know how to create and publish my own online newspaper, my own magazines using ‘Publisher’ software, a movie using ‘Microsoft Movie Maker’, and some non-technology materials such as flannel board, white board, etc (to name a few…).

Before entering the class, (guided by performa’s indications) I think that this course will be the hardest course for me (as I’m not very “into” to the virtual, IT world). Therefore, with some negatives mind set (my bad….!) I could not see the relevance of this particular course. Surely, this course will serve many “worth to make my head goes spinning” things…

But, after completing the course, I (proudly to say that) had a crush with it. True, there are some difficulties occurred throughout the course (e.g. I now realize that it is not that easy for us to create a movie, using the ‘Movie Maker’ software as it acquires many ‘detailed’ steps. Besides, now I know how hard it is to publish a magazine….). All of these elements taught me a lot as to appreciate all things, around me.

There is no doubt that I have learnt a lot, about the interactive teaching materials, taught
Pn. Foziah Mahmood. “BLOG” is one of the elements, learnt. With blogging, it allows me to convey my true feeling about certain things and share it with others. Therefore, it practices the ‘gives and takes’ principle, which means that besides sharing my own experiences and feelings with others, I also have been given the opportunity to ‘feel’ the experiences that had been faced by the others.

Through blogging, besides allow us to share the experiences faced, it also taught me a lot in acquiring the language skills. This (is somehow) help me a lot, in mastering the language, so as to make me be a very competent English language user. Blogging is one of the interactive ways, in the teaching and learning process. Therefore, I think that it is actually suitable to be implemented in my future ESL classroom. Besides instilling the interactive, enjoyable, and informative way of learning to the pupils, it also will evoke the pupils’ attention towards the knowledge taught. It allows the pupils to use their creative and critical thinking skills (CCTS) as well as higher order of thinking skills (HOTS), while blogging.

Based on all points given, I personally, strongly stand that this course; PBEY3102: Using and Developing Resources for the ESL Classroom is really will give a great benefit to the future teachers in planning and conducting a meaningful teaching and learning session, in the future. Therefore it will produce a better, knowledgeable future generation, correlates with the country’s policy. THANK YOU!!!!!

reflection week 13

Wondered why this “weird”, out of my profession dream; entered my slumber? It’s because I have composed and directed (even I was one of the actor, myself) a MOVIE…. (WELL DONE goes to me!!!)

During the PBEY3102 class, we have been taught about the specialty, and interactive ness of WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER. And (as usual…the practice makes perfect policy...) to ensure that we have managed to grab all the skills and knowledge taught, our lecturer, PN. FOZIAH had set a project for us- that is to produce our own movie... (due date? within a week)

To use the programme (the WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER) we have to make sure that the selected pictures has been saved in the appropriate files- it is to ensure that the pictures would not ‘corrupted’…

It was truly FUN using this device; as we not only managed to select our favourite pictures, but it also gives opportunities for us to add in some music, audio, as well as the credits of the picture selected.
After (struggling) finding my materials…. I have (proudly) completed a MOVIE!!!
IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

Still, I believe that as the future ESL teacher, the WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER, will surely able to act as the main scaffold in the
Align Center teaching and learning session.

this is our video...enjoy

reflection week 12

“The main responsible lays upon each and every person called “TEACHERS” is to teach the pupils the knowledge in the most interesting, attractive ways.”

True, this is the most popular sayings (or should I say…belief) that had been injected in our mindset, for almost a century….

Taking this as one of the main thing that had to be mastered, I think that, nowadays, teachers should prepare themselves with variety of teaching aids and tools (both in the technology based or non-technology based.)

Therefore, it was truly a valuable, worth knowledge or skill that I have learnt through this PBEY3102 class- projecting and creating E-BOOK.
I need to make the E-BOOK with a partner and my partner is Emma Ghafar. I loved to work with Emma because she is a creative person. A lots of ideas come out when we discuss the E-BOOK…finally we have decided what to do…haha

Back then, I taught that it was quite a tedious, complicated thing to do… (creating and developing my own E-BOOK on the net?!.... it’s impossible!)
Honestly, when our lecturer, PN. FOZIAH set an assignment in creating our own
E-BOOK, and we have to hand it in within a week; I was so shock- NO WAY I will be able to do it! (well… yeah it sounds quite pessimist…)

Miraculously…
I’m getting more and more addicted; through the progression of my E-BOOK… it was FUN!!- for once, I feel like I am the most popular, J.K Rowlings and the brilliant IT conqueror, Bill Gates!

Sure… there are many steps that we should concerned- in a way to produce a master piece work…but at the end of the day…SATISFACTION- that’s the word that we gained! (hard work pays...)

I believe that through E-BOOK, the teaching and learning session in the ESL classroom will be more enjoyable and lively….

reflection week 11

something behind the picture???

For this week we need to edit pictures as individual task. My first impression is “ARGH, it is

difficult” but after editing the pictures I found that it was very interesting and fun. We can

choose any picture to be edited as long as there is a meaning behind the picture. We all know

that, there are thousands meaning behind a picture as long as we know what we doing.

I have chosen my own picture to be edited. There are a few soft ware’s that we can use to edit

the pictures such as Adobe CS3, Photos cape and many more. I have chosen CS3 to edit my

picture. You can see the result below. Quite nice right??hahaha

After edited the picture, I realize that it can be used in order to make the teaching aids more

interesting. We change the colour, the location, and many more. We need to explore it to master

it. We need to be creative to be good in editing picture.

NICE PICTURES ??

reflection week 10

photo editing

Adobe Photoshop, or simply Photoshop, is a graphics editing program developed and published byAdobe Systems. It is the current and primary market leader for commercial bitmap and imagemanipulation, and is the flagship product of Adobe Systems. It has been described as "an industry standard for graphics professionals" and was one of the early "killer applications" on Macintosh.

Photoshop CS3, the current tenth iteration of the program, was released on 16 April 2007. "CS" reflects its integration with other Creative Suiteproducts, and the number "3" represents it as the third version released since Adobe re-branded its products under the CS umbrella. Photoshop CS3 features additions such as the ability to apply non-destructive filters, as well as new selection tools named Quick Selection and Refine Edge that make selection more streamlined. On April 30th, Adobe released Photoshop CS3 Extended, which includes all the same features of Adobe Photoshop CS3 with the addition of capabilities for scientific imaging, 3D, and high end film and video users. The successor to Photoshop CS3, Photoshop CS4, will be the first 64-bit Photoshop on consumer microcomputers.

Features

Photoshop has strong ties with other Adobe software for media editing, animation, and authoring. Files in Photoshop's native format, .PSD, can be exported to and from Adobe ImageReady, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Encore DVD to make professional standard DVDs and provide non-linear editing and special effects services, such as backgrounds, textures, and so on, for television, film, and the Web. For example, Photoshop CS broadly supports making menus and buttons for DVDs. For .PSD files exported as a menu or button, it only needs to have layers, nested in layer sets with a cuing format, and Adobe Encore DVD reads them as buttons or menus.

Photoshop can utilize the color models RGB, lab, CMYK, grayscale, binary bitmap, and duotone. Photoshop has the ability to read and write raster and vector image formats such as: .EPS, .PNG, .GIF, .JPEG, Fireworks, etc. It also has several native file formats:

The .PSD (Photoshop Document) format stores an image with support for most imaging options available in Photoshop. These include layers with masks, color spaces, ICC profiles, transparency, text, alpha channels and spot colors, Clipping paths, and duotone settings. This is in contrast to many other file formats (e.g. .EPS or .GIF) that restrict content to provide streamlined, predictable functionality. Photoshop's popularity means that the .PSD format is widely used, and it is supported to some extent by most competing software.

The .PSB (Large Document Format) format is a newer version of .PSD designed for files over 2gigabytes. The .PDD (PhotoDeluxe Document) format is a version of .PSD that only supports the features found in the discontinued PhotoDeluxe software.

In my opinion, the software (adobe Photoshop) was remarkable. By using this software, I can add effect on the picture such as put a frame on, enhance beauty-from blur picture to clear picture and many more. I have lot of fun using this sotware eventhough at first, i found it quite hard to work on the editing process using this software...thank to my friends for teaching me using this software..thank guys ;)

Before the class ended, the lecturer gives us a task which was to edit any photo and upload it to the photo bucket and I managed to do it on time.

Here are some of my edited pictures.
